How long does it take to get Sky Q Installed?

Sky Q installation is quick and simple, an engineer can start setting up your TV with Sky Q as soon as you have received your viewing card from Sky in the post. 
At ADS Digital our engineers are able to offer same day installation for many of our clients. Just make sure you have your Sky card ready and your TV installed so your engineer can get right to work!

What happens during Sky Q installation?

To get started with Sky Q, your engineer will need to install a satellite Sky Q dish along with the relevant system components. Sky Q also requires a strong Wifi connection, so your engineer will typically test the strength of your connection to make sure it can deliver a high quality signal.  Should your connection not be strong enough to support Sky Q, your engineer will likely suggest alternatives such as a signal booster or connection directly into the back of your router.

If you are upgrading from Sky+ HD or another recent Sky box service, your Sky Q engineer will change the low-noise block downconverter (LNB) in your satellite so that you receive the best signal with your new Sky Q box.

Do you need an engineer to install Sky Q?

Although the process of installing Sky Q is quick and simple, you will need an experienced engineer’s assistance to install Sky Q, even if you are upgrading from an old Sky service.

The LNB in your satellite dish required to get the best signal from Sky Q, will need to be installed by a professional to ensure that you receive the best quality display. A Sky Q engineer can also test the strength of your internet connection to give you the best quality signal, as well as install or extend any existing cables. 

Getting professional help with installation can ensure that you do not experience any signal or quality issues or complications with your Sky Q system.

Does Sky Q use existing cables?

As mentioned above, our engineers will be able to use or extend your existing Sky cables when installing Sky Q in your home, providing they are still in good condition. 

They will need to replace the LNB in your dish however, but this will not affect the cables in your home.

Do you need a new satellite dish for Sky Q?

Yes, you will need a new satellite dish for Sky Q. 

Be sure to hire an experienced engineer who is trained to install satellite dishes correctly and safely. They can take care of the whole process for you.

This way you can ensure that you will always get the best quality display from your Sky Q system, and avoid potential placement or installation issues with your dish. 

Does Sky Q need to be connected to a phone line?

While some older Sky boxes previously required a phone line connection for a stable signal, Sky Q does not need to be connected to a phone line to work within your home. 

All you will need to start watching Sky Q is to make sure that your Sky Q box remains connected to your internet either via WIFI connection or directly to your router using an ethernet cable.

Does Sky Q work with wifi?

Sky Q requires a strong internet connection to operate and maintain a high quality signal. We will analyze the strength of your current connection to ensure that your Sky Q signal will remain stable. We may also recommend that you connect your Sky Q box to your internet router with a cable to improve the quality of your signal.
